More about the ancient advance life on Mars; indeed, in the very decade that the Space Age began, Willy Ley and Werner von Braun's The Exploration of Mars contained a haunting illustration by Chesley Bonestell of the ruins of a Martian temple. That dream, of finding the remnants of a long-dead race, quickly vanished as close-up pictures arrived in 1964 from the first successful Mars probe, Mariner 4, of a crater-strewn wilderness seemly not unlike that of our own Moon. However, in 1971, Mariner 9 brought renewed hope of finding past and even extant biological activity, with its images of what appeared to be dried-up river channels. Such was the revival of optimism that only a few weeks before the first Viking landing, Carl Sagan and Joshua Lederberg went so far as to suggest that: "Large organisms, possibly detectable by the Viking Lander cameras, are not only possible on Mars; they may be favored." In the event, nothing so spectacular was found, although the Viking results are still open to a variety of interpretations, both chemical and biological.

Recently released photos, seen at right, taken by MGS look quite like aerial photos of an Earth desert dotted with shrub growth. But these sand dunes are in the southern hemisphere of Mars. A Hungarian research team, which has been analyzing the photos (and other photos of the same area over time), has concluded that the black dots are indeed living organisms.

"Each spring," writes David Leonard in an article for Space.com, "[the Hungarians] report, 'gray fuzzy spots' appear in the bottom of the ice cover. By the middle of the first half of spring, these spots become darker, are bounded, and grow in size. By early summer defrosting, the naked dark soil of the dune is visible, and surrounded by a lighter ring. Year by year, the dark dune spots 'renew' on the same place with almost the same configuration, or 'constellation' of patches. This repeat action, the team asserts, strengthens their suggestion of fixed, biological causes of spot formation."

The Hungarian scientists conclude that this strongly suggests the life cycle of some kind of plant life.

NASA and its associated research teams don't agree with this conclusion. Their theory is that the dark spots are "the result of springtime defrosting process on Mars, not signs of biology." A somewhat less dismissive opinion from Bruce Jakosky, a Mars researcher at the University of Colorado in Boulder, states that the conclusion for Martian biology is "premature... when other, simpler processes have not been ruled out."

Another controversial photo, shown above, reveals much larger forms that look like spreading trees as seen from above. No less a personage than respected author Arthur C. Clarke opined that they resemble Earth's Banyan trees. He too noted that these forms appear to change with the seasons, growing with the warmth and increased sunlight of Mars's spring season, just as vegetation would. But NASA has likewise explained these shapes as some kind of freezing/defrosting phenomenon or a part of the "bizarre geology" of Mars.

The first blow to the American electronics industry came with the 1988-89 introduction of NAFTA-North American Free Trade Agreement that opened up the door to Mexican sweat shops at first and then to the Asian sweat shops and that's when the quality really started to go downhill on electronics. I really do have to say that it is pretty sad that many of today's children haven't seen a turntable, an old black and white TV or even a Beta-max VCR or an 8-Track player let alone a knob-tuned TV with Rabbit Ears. I really would wish that people would wake up and smell the coffee on all that cheap Made In China junk that just gets thrown away every few years as opposed to an old 1960's or 1970's TV lasting 30 years or even 40 years in some cases. This is also the same with the old Bell and Western Electric phones lasting over 50 years in many cases as well. I'll bet only a few of today's kids have even seen a rotary dial phone as well. We need to appreciate all the good quality stuff as well they sure don't make things like they used to.

I have a Sears & Roebuck Color Television made 1984. The back states that the console was manufactured in the USA from components made in Japan. The Model is 564-49100450 The address is given as the Sears Tower, Chicago Illinois. My friend Dennis at the Radio Forum said the set was built by Sanyo back in the days when people still knew how to design good TV's. Sanyo had taken over the assembly plant of Warwick a few years earlier after Warwick literally put themselves out of business by making sets that no one could repair, not even the Warwick engineers. The fact that Sears owned Warwick, and had already been buying some electronics from Sanyo, factored heavily in the changeover.

She works very well for a 26 year old television. Here is a photo of her insides.

I guess you could say this was an American made out of Japanese parts television made in the USA at the Warwick plant.

This is a 1985 Curtis Mathes Console in wonderful working condition. I remember working on the cabinet design of this model. It also contains a Record player, Tape deck, and 8 track player. Model number K2675RK.

And here is one of her sisters still working as well!!

I remember working on the design of the control panel, check out the cool back-drop I picked out. I thought it really made the panel look rich.

A short history of the once famous Curtis Mathes Company.

I worked for the Curtis Mathes Company from the years 1986 to 1991 as a console television and stereo designer. The photograph below is one of the televisions I helped design in 1986, and yes she still works great.

This is a short history of the once famous Curtis Mathes Electronics Company. In 1957, Curtis Mathes & Associates purchased a major interest in the Olive-Myers-Spalti Manufacturing Co. The new firm, called Curtis Mathes Manufacturing Company, combined its decades of furniture building and electronics experience, first to enter the hi-fi business and, in 1959, the television industry. With these changes, Curtis Mathes started its tradition of combining top quality video and audio products housed in fine furniture. Just four years later, the Company entered the world of color television, beginning the era in which the Company became a household name. Below is a photograph of one the wonderful consoles the company was making in 1960, and yes she still is working as well.

It was in 1972 that Curtis Mathes was the first manufacturer to offer a completely solid-state product line, with an unprecedented four-year warranty. In 1975 Curtis Mathes, Jr. purchased the company from the shareholders. In 1978 Curtis Jr. began demonstrating what would become another hallmark of the Company: heavy use of advertising to position and promote products. That year, an $18 million advertising investment yielded sales of more than $152 million. Millions of Americans came to know that Curtis Mathes was..."The most expensive television in America, and darn well worth it!" Below is a photograph of the Curtis Mathes plant in Athens Texas. The huge plant is now empty and has not been used in years, very tragic.

In the year 1979 Curtis Mathes established ColorTyme, a home entertainment rental company, to meet the increasing demands for quality home entertainment equipment. In the years 1982 the Company began franchising its name across the country, the corporate headquarters were moved from Athens to Dallas and the Company’s manufacturing plant in Athens, Texas was sold. Then in 1988 the entire Company was sold and relocated back in Athens. During the period I worked for the company the Athens plant became the center of television and stereo production for the entire company. This was a awesome time in the history of our nation, back before our once proud and powerful electronics industries were sold out to the slave markets of Asia in a horrible unfair free trade agreement. Now because of the greed and stupidity of a few men not one television is made in North America.

Ancient civilization discovered in Amazon could be the works of the Lamanites or the Nephites

In cleared-away areas of the upper Amazon basin, researchers, using satellite imagery, have recently pinpointed a vast network of monumental earthworks, including geometrically aligned roads and structures,constructed by a hitherto unknown civilization.

According to a new report published in the journal Antiquity, the archeologist Martii Pärssinen and other scientists have documented more than two hundred and ten geometric structures, some of which may date as far back as the third century A.D. They are spread out over an area that spans more than two hundred and fifty kilometers, reaching all the way from northern Bolivia to the state of Amazonia in Brazil....
Over the past several years, however, there has been mounting evidence that nearly everything that was once generally believed about the Amazon and its people was wrong, and that Fawcett was in fact prescient.
None of this wondrous discovery would have come as a shock to various authors who decades ago recorded the stories of the natives and explorers. During that time, however, mainstream archaeologists have frequently pooh-poohed these tales and ignored the whole astounding field. As we can see, times are changing. Perhaps these ruins could be the works of the Lamanites or the Nephites or even the people of Zarahemla in ancient America.
This is a fascinating find has come from the tragic loss of Brazilian rainforest, making some lemonade out of that lemon. Of course, what this discovery of a long lost Amazonian civilization means is that there have been other times when the forest was likewise not there, giving us hope that currently devastated areas can be re-grown as well.
What this find also means is that those intrepid explorers of earlier times, such as Colonel P.H. Fawcett and many others, were correct in believing the natives, whose stories beginning centuries ago described not just one but many civilizations or cities lost in the massive rainforest as well as elsewhere in remote, overgrown parts of South America.
As a result of the deforestation of the Amazon basin, a startling discovery has been made. Hidden from view for centuries, the vast archaeological remains of an unknown, ancient civilization have been found.
A study published in Antiquity, a British archaeological journal, details how satellite imagery was used to discern the footprint of the buildings and roads of a settlement, located in what is now Brazil and believed to span a region of more than 150 miles across....
According to Martti Parssinen, Denise Schaan and Alceu Ranzi, the authors of the study, the community likely had a population of more than 60,000 people. The researchers said they have only uncovered roughly 10 percent of the existing structures, which may date as far back as A.D. 300....

The Crystal Brotherhood has detailed records of a huge Celestial war around 12,500BC. The truth about the catastrophe in 12,500 BC could have heated the atmosphere to over 1000¡C over Michigan, and the neutron flux at more northern locations would have melted considerable glacial ice. Radiation effects on plants and animals exposed to the cosmic rays would have been lethal, comparable to being irradiated in a 5-megawatt reactor more than 100 seconds.
The overall pattern of the catastrophe matches the pattern of mass extinction before Holocene times.
The Western Hemisphere was more affected than the Eastern, North America more than South America, and eastern North America more than western North America. Extinction in the Great Lakes area was more rapid and pronounced than elsewhere. Larger animals were more affected than smaller ones, a pattern that conforms to the expectation that radiation exposure affects large bodies more than smaller ones. Sharp fluctuations of 14 C in the Icelandic marine sediments at each geomagnetic excursion are interesting; because global carbon deposits in the ocean sediments at a rate of only about 0.0005 percent a year, a sudden increase in sediment 14 C may reflect the rapid die-off of organisms that incorporated radiocarbon shortly after bombardment.
Massive radiation would be expected to cause major mutations in plant life. Maize probably evolved by macro-mutation at that time, and plant domestication of possibly mutated forms appears worldwide after the Late Glacial period. For example, there was a rapid transition from wild to domesticated grains in the Near East after the catastrophe.
Implications for future study
Much of what we assume about the Paleo-Indian period and the peopling of the Americas has been inferred from conventional radiocarbon chronology, which often conflicts with archaeological evidence. This work mandates that conventional radio-carbon dates be reinterpreted in light of hard terrestrial evidence of exposure of the radiocarbon samples to a cosmological catastrophe that affected vast areas of North America and beyond. A nuclear catastrophe can reset a group of unrelated artifacts to a common younger date, creating gaps and false episodes in the fossil record. Geographical variation and complicated overburdens may further confuse the interpretation. Scrutiny of Paleoindian artifacts and the North American paleolandscape, associated stratigraphic sediments, coupled with continued radiological investigations, may provide more evidence for the cosmic catastrophe and new clues to the origin of Paleoindians.
Then, 12000 years before present, when the sea level had reached 100 feet below present level, something happened to interrupt the process; temperatures plunged 7 degrees, the sea level hesitated. This was the beginning of the Younger Dryas, (10500 BC) a millennium in which the circulation system of the North Atlantic went into a kind of planetary fibrillation, the African monsoons migrated southward, drying the desert. After a millennium, theend of the Younger Dryas ,9500 BC) came about almost as quickly as it had begun, warmth returned to the North, and water to the deserts of the Near East. Again about 6000 BC, another abrupt cooling in Greenland, (6200 BC) this a short lived cycle, then a warming for two thousand years the sun shining, a great green spring in the northern lands, the wolves retreating, as the planet entered the mid Holocene altithermal.
If we look at the timeline of the Crystal Brotherhoods records for this period we can see the Bird-Serpent War occurred in this period. In Atlantean land at the time of the Bird-Serpent War 12,000 BC they had developed electrical forces that had great power. This force an energy force that fell from the sky perhaps in a craft that had been damaged in the Celestial battles of the Bird-Serpent War. This was the terrible mighty crystal, from the heavens and it had power that brought destruction and changed the history of mankind.

14,000 B.C. - Atlanteans settled in southern Egypt.

10,000 B.C. - The Earth's magnetic pole moved, the glaciers began to retreat, 40 million animals died on the American continent.
